Basilica di San Francesco in Assisi Aquaduct in Spoleto A scorpion! In Umbria, the "green heart of Italy" we visited Perugia, Gubbio, Assisi, Spoleto, Todi, and Orvieto.
The steps of the duomo We continued to Perugia, the capital of Umbria. The atmosphere is wonderful with many internation students. Here the daily passegiata is a serious matter on the Corso Vanucci and the duomo steps are always filled with people.

After working on the farm, I met my mother in Pisa. We climbed the leaning tower, then continued on to the small mideival village of San Gimignano and then to Siena.
After our stay on the farm, Elena and I travelled around Puglia a bit. Our first stop was Ostuni, La Citta Bianca (The White City). It was absolutely beautiful! A magical little town near the Adriatic coast.
